LOZOVACA is one of the better spirits known from Yugoslavia.
Produced for centuries, it is known as a national drink in Serbia and MonteNegro.
Produced from the fermented fresh juice of ripe grapes, this special variety of liquor gets its name after the vine plant.
With its crystal clear transparent color, and unique smell, with a distinguished aroma of ripe grapes, it enjoys a significant reputation and holds an outstanding place among liquors in Yugoslavia. Lozovaca has to be served cold.
It will make you warm in winter and cool in the summertime.

GEWURZTRAMINER: ("geh-verts-tram-in-er"). Widely grown in Yugoslavia, and one of the mainstay grapes
introduced from the Alsace region, the popular Gewurztraminer produces white wines with a strong floral aroma.
It is often regarded as somewhat similar in style to the Navip Riesling - (see above) - when vinified
as slightly sweet yet tart. Occasionally it is made into a late harvest dessert style wine.
Grows well in the cooler coastal regions of Yugoslavia close to the Danube river.

PINOT NOIR: One of the premier grapes of the South region of Yugoslavia. The wine was aged on its light lees in oak barrels and gently bottled.
Our 1998 Pinot Noir is opulent and seductive, shows good color in the glass. This is a full flavored rich wine showing good fruit characters on the nose and nice weight on the palate which is typical of this cooler climate variety. Medium cherry red color, Pinot Noir shows good complexity highlighted by strong vanillin oak lift coupled with cherry fruit and spice. The palate is quite soft with good length of flavor, balanced by a firm oak tannin finish.
Pinot Noirs go well with pasta with red sauce, or lighter beef dishes. Also, any local game you might have, or even goose would do well.

Vranac grapes grow only in southern parts of Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro, and nowhere else in the world.
Grapes are picked by hand late in the season, during the last week of September. In order to preserve the unique flavor as much as possible the fermentation was performed at the temperature of 25-26 degrees Celsius. After pressing, the new wine was racked in oak barrels to mellow and mature for six months to one year.
The taste of Navip's Vranac is complex, yet smooth and elegant. It fills the nose with aroma of violets and raspberry. The entry is a soft, meaty fruit that is ripe and rich in the mid palate, with a solid wash of acidity on the back palate. It has good "legs" and excellent viscosity that gives an almost creamy feeling and the unique, lingering aftertaste. It has a good acid balance and a firm component strength, with very little tannin.
Despite its unique taste, Vranac will not overwhelm any kind of food. It harmonizes very well with pasta, chicken and even fish like salmon.
